Back in 1947, Dena Sommer and Terry Sullivan moved with their respective families to the city of Brea, California. They first met in 1950 on the Laurel School kindergarten playground. They went to Brea schools together from K-12, followed by two years of college at Fullerton College in nearby Fullerton, California.
Dena then attended Cal State Fullerton, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications, while Terry went into the Navy. She went on to receive her Masters in Journalism at UCLA, got married, and became the mother of two sons. She later entered the world of higher education, ultimately retiring in 2001.
Terry, meanwhile, completed his tour of duty in the Navy and then attended Claremont Men’s College, which was later renamed Claremont McKenna College, graduating with a degree in Political Science. He then went into management with the Cask ‘n Cleaver restaurant group. A number of years later, Terry changed direction and became involved in computer systems training for a temporary staffing company headquartered in San Juan Capistrano, California.
Fast forward a mere 43 years. Not having seen each other since 1965, Dena and Terry were reunited at their high school classes’ 45th reunion in 2008 and not that long thereafter they became a couple . . . and a very happy one at that!
Dena and Terry do hope you enjoy viewing this beautiful collection of art as much as they enjoy presenting it to you.
